Jordan: Eroded Morphologies

This project was held at an AA school workshop in Amman, Jordan. This adventures combined the unique desert ecology, algorithmic computing, and digital fabrication. The workshop compromises of a ten-day design research studio of exploring eroded morphologies and the way it can be translated digitally through algorithm architecture using Grasshopper, Rhino, and Maya.

This column focused on the phenomenon of Tafoni structure that is formed on the rock portions of Wadi-Rum desert ecology. These are characterized by the appearance of a cave-like holes that are present on the surface of the rock due to the wind forcing the sand particles to create the small holes. This column was later 3d printed and laser cut to explore different methods an object can be displayed.
