Warming Hut: Swathe
The concept of SWATHE warming hut is to use social and psychological warmth to promote physical warnmth. This concept is demonstrated in a form of an interactive installation that allows users to wrap themselves with it. The structure adopts a circular form which mimics a wrapping technique that acts as a wind shield. Each hub allows the capacity of three individuals to work together to pull it up and be seated inside it. The red felt material choice and color radiates visual head which is used to clad the structure. The members that fold in this structure is made out of wooden dowels that can be easily obtained, manufactured and assembled. The locking mechanism allow a varied desirable height of the shield that is catered towards sitting and standing. The hubs can act individually or in group when placed on the frozen lake which allows additional playful aspect.
